Laurier Roy started his lighting career as a business graduate in 1982.
His first few years in the field were spent learning the basics as a purchasing agent for Buchanan Lighting, a lamp wholesaler. Working his way up in the lighting industry, Laurier went from an electrical distributor, to a residential showroom as the store francisee and then as a partner in a lighting agency.
He finally co-founded his own lighting agency in 1994.

As lighting professionals, we can guide you with the following:
1- Find the objectives of the lighting design by defining the
main activities within the space. We need to know about the users.
and the type of ambiance that needs to be created.
2- Determine the specific area where lighting is required:
What are the main points of interest which either need to be
highlighted or brought into negative contrast with various
techniques.
3- Determine the lighting direction and its distribution:
Should the distribution be uniform, focused or asymmetrical?
Should the beams be clearly cutoff or slightly diffused?
Do the surfaces transmit, reflect or absorb the light?
Do you need soft ambient lighting or a brighter functional light?
Do you want a uniform wall wash , a sparkling effect or a
shadow effect?
4-Determine the appropriate lighting intensity for that environment.
5- Choose the proper lighting source in order to achieve the right
color, distribution, intensity, lamp life, color rendering , control
and overall reliability.
6- Choose the proper location.
7- Choose the right fixture by considering:
The available mounting space (obstructions), the fixture
construction, the finish, the surface reflectances, the ceiling height,
etc…
Consider the look of the fixture itself as well as it’s electrical and
mechanical characteristics (CSA approvals)
Lighting Consultation:
We can also assist you in solving existing lighting problems.
Your lighting may not be accomplishing what was intended from the onset; it might be too glary or too bright or darker than expected.
It might be that the overall performance has considerably dropped down in the case of older installations.
Instead of having to go through the high costs of replacing the fixtures, you might want to consider a simple upgrade in such cases. The solution can be a retrofit or a minor modification of the fixtures.
Our experienced team can produce a study (1- Brief or 2- Extensive) following an evaluation of the problem. This analysis will put forward some alternatives for which we will garanty the results. These possible solutions will be backed by statistics, calculations or mock-ups based on theory and also facts from passed experience.
